The Tokmanni variety discount retail chain is opening new stores in Söderkulla in Sipoo and in Pälkäne on Thursday 11 April 2024 at 8 am. Located in brand new commercial buildings, the new Tokmanni stores offer very comfortable shopping experiences and an extensive range of products. In true Tokmanni style, the store openings will feature plenty of special offers and free buckets filled with product gifts.
In Söderkulla in Sipoo, Tokmanni will serve its customers in a prime business location along the Uusi Porvoontie road in the centre of the Söderkulla residential area. The store is close to a skatepark, sports field and hall, church, school, daycare centre and bus station. The address is Liiketie 2, 01150 Sipoo.
In Pälkäne, the new Tokmanni store also has a good business location, close to Highway 12 and the Taukopaikka Aapiskukko service station and resting spot. The address is Tervapirtintie 11, 36600 Pälkäne.
The new Tokmanni stores offer an extensive and diverse product range, focusing in particular on home improvement, interior decoration, clothing, detergents and cleaning products, seasonal products and beauty, health and wellbeing. The new stores also feature shop-in-shop departments with footwear from Click Shoes, the shoe chain that joined the Tokmanni Group last year.
The first Tokmanni store in Sipoo also includes a shop-in-shop department for the Tokmanni Group’s Miny lifestyle brand. Miny offers a diverse range of beauty, wellbeing and interior decoration products and other surprising and interesting things to buy.
The new stores have been designed in line with Tokmanni’s newest store concept, which emphasises convenient and pleasant shopping. The stores have plenty of space, around 2,900 square metres in Söderkulla in Sipoo, and around 3,000 square metres in Pälkäne. Both stores also feature a garden department, around 500 square metres in Söderkulla and around 550 square metres in Pälkäne.

People in both municipalities have been hoping for a Tokmanni store for a long time, so our opening will generate a great deal of interest among local residents and other people who do their shopping in these municipalities,” says Timo Heimo, Vice President, Sales and Supply Chain at Tokmanni.
“Naturally, we are very happy to respond to our customers’ wishes. In Sipoo, we will have another store opening this year, as a new Tokmanni store is going to be completed in Nikkilä towards the end of the year,” he adds.
Customers will be served by Store Manager Katja Hukka with her team of around 15 retail sector professionals in Söderkulla in Sipoo, and by Store Manager Marianne Jokihaara and her team of around ten retail sector professionals in Pälkäne. The Tokmanni store in Söderkulla in Sipoo will be open from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays, from 8 am to 7 pm on Saturdays, and from 10 am to 6 pm on Sundays. In Pälkäne, the Tokmanni store will serve customers from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays, from 8 am to 7 pm on Saturdays, and from 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays.

Handy services and a focus on energy choices
In addition to offering comprehensive and affordable product selections and a pleasant shopping experience, Tokmanni focuses on services that make customers’ daily lives easier and on smart energy choices.
At Tokmanni stores, customers can make purchases through the Tokmanni Tukku B2B sales function and the Tokmanni Klubi customer loyalty program. Customers can also pick up orders made through the Tokmanni online store and conveniently withdraw cash when paying at the checkout.
Tokmanni purchases only zero-emission electricity for its Tokmanni stores. At all Tokmanni stores energy-efficient LED technology is used in the lighting. As is the case with numerous other Tokmanni stores, the stores in Söderkulla in Sipoo and in Pälkäne will also have a recycling point for electrical and electronic equipment waste, where customers can bring their light bulbs, batteries and small broken electrical appliances, such as shavers, kettles and electric toothbrushes.
Special offers and surprise buckets with product gifts in true Tokmanni style
Tokmanni will celebrate the opening of its new stores with special offers (Söderkulla and Pälkäne). The offers are valid in Tokmanni stores in Söderkulla in Sipoo and in Pälkäne from Thursday to Sunday 11–14 April 2024. In addition, 1,000 of Tokmanni’s famous surprise buckets filled with product gifts will be handed out for free to the first customers in Söderkulla and Pälkäne at the openings on Thursday 11 April 2024. A Tokmanni gift voucher worth EUR 100 has been hidden in two of the buckets.
At the Söderkulla opening ceremonies on Thursday morning 11 April 2024, in addition to the store personnel, Tokmanni will be represented by Harri Koponen, Vice President, Store Network and Concept, Sirpa Huuskonen, Vice President, People, Culture and Sustainability, and Arto Nykänen, Regional Manager. At the event, Mayor Mikael Grannas will bring greetings from the municipality of Sipoo. In Pälkäne, Timo Heimo, Vice President, Sales and Supply Chain, and Marjo Vanhala, Regional Manager, will participate the store opening ceremonies on Thursday morning 11 April 2024.
The shop-in-shop departments of the Click Shoes chain, which was acquired by the Tokmanni Group last year, offer a wide variety of footwear. The shop-in-shop department in the photo above is located in the Tokmanni store in Seppälänkangas in Jyväskylä.
The Tokmanni Group’s network of stores will continue to grow and renew
Tokmanni has also entered into agreements on opening new Tokmanni stores in Eurajoki and Nikkilä in Sipoo. In addition, Tokmanni has acquired a piece of land from the municipality of Sodankylä to build a new Tokmanni store in the municipality. In the Columbus shopping centre in Vuosaari in Helsinki, Tokmanni is closing its store on Friday 12 April 2024 due to the expiry of its lease.
The construction of the Tokmanni store in Eurajoki has started, and the opening is planned for the autumn of 2024. The construction of the Tokmanni store in Nikkilä in Sipoo is scheduled to start in the spring, and the opening is expected to be held by the end of 2024. In Sodankylä, construction is planned to start during the spring, provided that the official matters proceed smoothly with the authorities. The store opening in Sodankylä is planned for either November this year or March next year. The opening of the latest new Tokmanni store was celebrated in Katajaharju in Kouvola in December 2023.
In addition to the above, Tokmanni will refurbish several of its stores this year. In March, Tokmanni celebrated the openings of its expanded and refurbished stores in Ylöjärvi and the centre of Lohja and its refurbished store in the Ideapark Oulu shopping centre in Ritaharju in Oulu. In addition, the opening of the expanded and refurbished Tokmanni store in Seppälänkangas in Jyväskylä was celebrated earlier this year.
In Finland, the Tokmanni Group includes the Tokmanni variety discount retail chain, the Click Shoes and Shoe House shoe chains, and the Miny lifestyle brand. At the end of this week, when the new Tokmanni stores have opened their doors for the first time in Söderkulla in Sipoo and in Pälkäne, and the Tokmanni store has been closed in the Columbus shopping centre in Vuosaari in Helsinki, Tokmanni will have 202 Tokmanni stores. Click Shoes currently has 28 stores, Shoes House two stores and Miny six stores. This spring, in addition to the Tokmanni stores mentioned above, the number of stores in Finland will increase in at least the Click Shoes chain, as Click Shoes will open new stores in the Koskikeskus shopping centre in the heart of Tampere, the Veturi shopping centre in Kouvola and the Karisma shopping centre in Lahti. These Click Shoes store openings will be celebrated during April. In Finland, Tokmanni Group also serves its customers through the Tokmanni and Click Shoes online stores.
The Tokmanni Group also owns the Swedish Dollarstore discount retail chain. Dollarstore currently has 131 Dollarstore stores in Sweden and four Bigdollar stores in Denmark. The latest new Dollarstore store opened its doors for the first time in Uddevalla, Sweden at the end of March this year. In Denmark, the next Bigdollar store opening will be celebrated in Frederikshavn at the end of May this year.
